Asbury United Methodist Church Music Ministry

Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord!

Psalm 96: 1  musicministry

Welcome

At Asbury Church, we take joy in the opportunity to serve God, our congregation and community by bringing His word alive with music. Through hymns, anthems and songs of Christian praise, we offer our music as wings for the enhancement of worship. Our choirs and praise teams welcome everyone with open hearts, open minds and open doors. There is a place for those who would like to musically praise God, serve in worship and grow in the fellowship of a choir family. Please see our current choir descriptions and we warmly invite you to contact our choir directors/leaders or church office for more information. Please come sing and play in the Music Ministry of Asbury Church.

Contemporary Praise and Worship

Our purpose in the worship ministries is to be lead worshipers who exalt Jesus, and encourage others to do the same – as individuals, in our families, and as a church body. We put our confidence in Psalm 22:3 (that God inhabits the praises of His people), and Matthew 18:20 (that even on a holiday weekend, when the crowd is small, God is with us). So, the bottom line for us is…Worship Leadership!

This opportunity is also a calling…we believe God calls each Christian, not just the pastors, to specific ministries for which He sovereignly has gifted them. The results are the growth of His kingdom and the building up of the body of Christ in love, as each person does their part. (See Ephesians 4:16). If God is calling you to serve in the Music and Worship Ministries, join us for some very enriching, fulfilling, challenging, and fun Kingdom work.

Praise Team – Tuesday evening rehearsal – 6:45pm – MEY – preparing for worship, we take this opportunity for a devotional time together and rehearsing upcoming music for the services.  With multiple talented individuals as a part of the team, we rotate individuals through a schedule to participate instrumentally and vocally.  Sound checks are then prior to each worship services on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.  Please contact David Brown at dbrown@asburyyork.org or 717.843.0733 for more information.

David Brown, Contemporary Praise and Worship Leader

My name is David Brown and I count it an honor to serve alongside the musicians and media team as the Praise and Worship Leader for the Contemporary Worship Services at Asbury.  Music has been a part of my life.  From a recording of “I’m a Little Teapot” my mother held so dear to a moment in church when as a child I shouted, “Jingle Bells” when the congregation was asked for suggestions to sing for Christmas in July, a melody has been in my heart and voice.  I have served in churches for 28 years as a worship leader and find worshiping the Lord is not just something that happens during a worship service.  Worship of God is a lifestyle dating back to the Old Testament, portrayed with heartfelt passion in the Psalms and seen in love and service as modeled by Jesus Christ, the son of God.  My desire is to dedicate all my life to the worship of God, living the love of Christ and being led by the Holy Spirit to extend the reach of the kingdom of God to all and to model this lifestyle to all I come in contact with each day.
