Jeffrey B. (Jeff) Herbst – Assoc. Pastor
Serving Christ by serving the community of Asbury Church has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I cannot think of a place I would rather be on a consistent basis than in worship, sharing and leading among the Asbury community. I know that God has a perfect future in mind for His church and those who love Him, and I long to be a meaningful part of it all.

John & Mary Ann Maza, Chancel & Bell Choir Directors
John & Mary Ann Maza serve as our Chancel and Bell Choir Directors at Asbury Church.

|
My name is John Maza and it is a blessing for me to serve as Chancel Choir Director here at Asbury Church. I grew up in a Christ-centered family with extraordinary parents, an older brother and younger sister. It seems that I was always involved in music as a young person at First Congregational Church in my hometown of Harford, PA. After high school, I enrolled as a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where I majored in Music Education. During college, I met my future and wonderful wife, Mary Ann and we settled in Honesdale, PA where we both taught music for thirty-three years in neighboring school districts and I served in school administration. I attended Northwestern University where I received a Masters Degree in Music and I completed a Master of Educational Leadership degree at Wilkes University. I have served as a choir director and in music program leadership at Central United Methodist Church, Honesdale for 30 years.
My name is Mary Ann Maza. What a joy it is for me to direct the Bell Choir and Children’s Choirs here at Asbury! Music has always played an important and defining role in my life. I grew up here in York where I enjoyed participating in musical activities in church, school and the community. I received my bachelor’s degree in music education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I also met my husband, John. My post-graduate work includes a masters degree in music from Northwestern University and extensive work in vocal pedagogy at Marywood University. Shortly after we were married John and I were invited to join the choir at Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale, PA. This was the beginning of our more than thirty-year commitment to celebrating and praising God through music in the Methodist Church. I was honored to begin the first bell choirs at Central, participate in the vocal choirs and direct TLC (The Lord’s Company), a vocal choir for teens. During our tenure at Central, the choirs were active within the church, participating in services at the conference level and reaching out to the community.
